As survival horror continues to experience a renaissance of popularity through remakes of genre classics and fresh entries, Teapot Studio is gearing up to enter the fray with its first official release, The Twilight Project, which blends the intense gunplay and combat of Resident Evil 4 with the Asian folklore influences of Silent Hill f. Currently slated to release exclusively for PC via Steam, The Twilight Project will transport players to a remote village in Thailand where they will battle for survival against horrific creatures that were never meant to be uncovered.

Both the Resident Evil and Silent Hill game franchises have returned to the forefront of survival horror with beloved remakes and new entries. As both veterans of the genre and first-time fans explore the diverse array of survival horror offerings, developers like Teapot Studio are blending the familiar elements of old-school powerhouses while introducing new scares to frighten and delight players.

PS5 is Getting an Exclusive Dinosaur Horror Game With Serious Dino Crisis Vibes on November 14

PlayStation 5 confirms an upcoming exclusive dinosaur horror video game inspired by 1999’s Dino Crisis, coming on November 14.

Horror fans can get a first official look at The Twilight Project with the brand-new teaser trailer, which showcases some of the grotesque terrors that await in the remote countryside of Thailand. Players will take on the role of a tourist who becomes stranded in an abandoned village where reality shifts into a shadow dimension and mysterious creatures begin to appear. Clues to the disturbing history behind the cursed village lie hidden in the darkness, and players will need to overcome nightmares seeping into reality in order to escape. As forgotten legends of cursed villagers and ancient demons from the depths of Thai myths and folklore are made all too real, finding a way out will hinge on fending off the horrific attacks of otherworldly entities while managing limited resources in this new take on classic survival horror games.

The Twilight Project Trailer and Gameplay Details

While The Twilight Project follows similar gameplay mechanics to those found in games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, this unique entry into the survival horror genre will also introduce a base-building element and defense mechanisms. Players will be able to establish their own safe zones by setting up traps and stockpiling resources, similar to gameplay in The Forest. A day and night cycle will give players a chance to prepare in sunlight while battling in darkness. Investigation mechanics can be used to analyze clues and puzzle-solving will unlock helpful information about the twisted village shaped by Southeast Asian folklore. Intense gunplay, intriguing storytelling, and oppressive fear can all be found in The Twilight Project when it launches exclusively on Steam.

Both AAA and indie studios have seemingly found a renewed interest of sorts in survival horror video games, with top studios and smaller teams bringing captivating scares to longtime fans and new players. The Twilight Project has already received a number of favorable comparisons to other survival horror juggernauts, and many are keeping their fingers crossed that the upcoming journey through Thai folk horror will become a modern classic.
