New Wisdom of Sea and Sky Lugia EX And Ho‑Oh EX Cards Might Break TCG Pocket

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s new set is gearing up to introduce a pair of new cards that could turn the game’s meta on its head. The massively popular mobile version has seen a plethora of different decks dominate the game’s online battle modes, highlighted by plenty of powerful Pokemon. Cards like Celebi ex, Articuno ex, and Sylveon ex among others have helped to define the competitive meta for the mobile trading card game. Now, Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s next set may introduce another powerful combo of Pokemon to the game.

Pokemon TCG Pocket officially unveiled the newest set coming to the mobile TCG last week, with “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” whisking players to the Johto region. The expansion will introduce new cards for several Pokemon originally appearing in Pokemon Gold and Silver, including Umbreon, Espeon, and Cleffa. Pokemon TCG Pocket will also introduce some new cards based on trainers from Johto, like a Supporter Trainer card of Lyra. The set’s cover cards may now be uniquely positioned to shake up Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s meta.

An official Pokemon TCG Pocket ad reveals a whole batch of new cards from the Wisdom of Sea and Sky set ahead of its launch on July 30.

Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s newest set brings a pair of cover cards that could make a huge impact on launch. Lugia ex features one attack, with Elemental Blast dealing a staggering 180 damage at the cost of discarding a Water, Fire, and Lightning Energy attached to it. Ho-Oh ex, on the other hand, needs only 3 Colorless Energy to use its Phoenix Turbo attack to attach the same three types of Energy. The two legendary birds will be able to work together, with Ho-Oh ex able to constantly reload Energies onto Lugia.

Lugia ex and Ho-Oh ex Might Break Pokemon TCG Pocket

    Lugia ex

    • 150 HP
    • Weakness: Electric
    • Retreat Cost: 2
    • Elemental Blast (F-W-L): 180 Damage, Discard a Fire, Water, and Lightning Energy from this Pokemon.

    Ho-Oh ex

    • 150 HP
    • Weakness: Electric
    • Retreat Cost: 2
    • Phoenix Turbo (C-C-C): 90 Damage, Take a Fire, Water, and Lightning Energy from your Energy Zone and attach them to your Benched Basic Pokemon in any way you like.

Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s new cover cards look to provide an incredibly tight resource loop for players using the Johto birds. Ho-Oh’s Phoenix Turbo attack can be set up as early as Turn 3, allowing players to load up Lugia to swing for devastating damage. The 180 damage from Lugia’s Elemental Blast is notably high enough to knock out any Pokemon currently in Pokemon TCG Pocket with a single attack. Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion will officially make its debut later this week on July 30.

Pokemon TCG Pocket looks to have lots more exciting content on the way beyond its newest set. TCG Pocket will overhaul its trading system on the same day as Wisdom of Sea and Sky’s release, eliminating the controversial trade tokens from the game. Pokemon TCG Pocket will also add a new wishlist function to the trading system with the update, allowing players to specify cards they particularly want. Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s July 30 update looks to shake up the game’s competitive meta while making several helpful changes.
