Some Battlefield 6 fans will get to play the game on August 7, two days ahead of the first global Open Beta, due to EA’s unique marketing strategy. The company has had its fair share of peculiar pre-launch campaigns and unorthodox releases, including launching over 10 games at once, a move some might call “spam releasing.” Now, it seems EA also wants to try something new with its highly anticipated FPS, Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6‘s Open Beta is divided into three phases: Early Access, First Weekend, and Second Weekend. The initial phase, Early Access, confused most fans at first. After clarification from the developer, it became clear that it would serve as an exclusive first look for a select group of players. What many fans didn’t understand, however, was why some players would be treated to Early Access while others were not.
EA Gave Early Access Codes for Battlefield 6 to Three Groups of Players
On July 31, during the Battlefield 6 reveal stream, select Twitch streamers distributed Early Access codes to their viewers, marking the first opportunity for fans to play the Open Beta early. EA later confirmed that those who signed up for Battlefield Labs before the game’s July 31 announcement would also get advanced access, with no need for redemption codes. Lastly, the company included all EA Play Pro members in Early Access, assuring them they could play Battlefield 6‘s beta before everyone else.
In other words, as a marketing strategy, EA limited Early Access to players who either watched the announcement stream, were part of Battlefield Labs before the official announcement, or have an active EA Play Pro membership. That’s why, on August 7, only a select group of players will participate in the Open Beta, even though Battlefield 6‘s preload has already begun.
Theoretically, the only way to join Early Access now is by getting an EA Play Pro membership before August 7. However, fans might also be able to redeem an unused redemption code to download the Open Beta client if they can get their hands on an active one.
As for the exact date and time of the Early Access Open Beta, Battlefield 6 fans should set reminders for August 7 at 1:00 AM PT, or 8:00 AM UTC. It will last for 24 hours, concluding on August 8, around the same time. Two days later, on August 9 at 1:00 AM PT or 8:00 AM UTC, the First Weekend Open Beta kicks off, this time genuinely open to all players, regardless of platform or Battlefield Labs account creation date.
