Patch 7.3 for Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail has arrived, and a bunch of new mounts and minions are available for players to earn. This patch includes the first minion obtained via fishing since Final Fantasy 14‘s Stormblood expansion, and there are a few new mounts that Warriors of Light are obsessing over as well.
One of the mounts introduced in this patch is only available via the premium store, but the rest of the mounts and minions can be obtained just by playing the game. They’re quite rare — as is usually the case with new FF14 mounts and minions — but you can buy most of them on the Market Board as long as you have enough Gil to spare. These are all the new Patch 7.3 mounts and minions in Final Fantasy 14.
All Mounts Added in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3
There are three new mounts released in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3.
Mount |
How to Get |
---|---|
Wings of Death |
Drops from The Minstrel’s Ballad: Necron’s Embrace |
Yan |
Drops from the Vault Oneiron Treasure Dungeon (Timeworn Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps) |
Shagcat |
Purchase for $24 from the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store |
Shagcat is one of the minions that Warriors of Light can’t stop talking about, but it’s exclusively available as a paid add-on (and a pricey one at that). It does come with some emotes like an adorable stretch and a fearsome hiss, but it costs more than a monthly subscription.
At least you can earn the Wings of Death and Yan mounts for free, but they’re not that easy to get. Wings of Death is a possible drop from The Minstrel’s Ballad: Necron’s Embrace, a new Patch 7.3 Extreme Trial. Extreme Mounts have very low drop rates when they’re first introduced, so good luck on that one.
It may be even easier to get than Yan, however, since Yan can only drop as a reward from the new Vault Oneiron Treasure Dungeon. Vault Oneiron only has a small chance to appear after using a Timeworn Gargantuaskin Treasure Map, and if your party does get to go inside, then Yan isn’t even a guaranteed reward. Also, only one party member can get the mount if it shows up. Happy hunting!
All Minions Added in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3
There are eight new minions to collect in FF14 Patch 7.3.
Minion |
How to Get |
---|---|
Sunray |
Caught by fishing in Shaaloani (Westbound Zorgor) with Dragonfly bait |
Falcon-Blue Gobtank |
PVP Series 9 Reward |
Raven-Red Gobtank |
PVP Series 9 Reward |
Wind-Up Eald’narche |
Drops from San D’Oria: The Second Walk Alliance Raid |
Rroneek Calf |
Purchased for 400 Faux Leaves |
Gimme Kitten |
Drops from the Vault Oneiron Treasure Dungeon (Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps) |
Mini Yan |
Drops from the Vault Oneiron Treasure Dungeon (Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps) |
Micro Crow |
Drops from The Meso Terminal (Patch 7.3 MSQ dungeon) |
There are more minions to earn this patch, but they’re still quite rare. Two Gobtanks are up for grabs via the new PVP Series rewards, and the new dungeon and Alliance Raid have a chance to drop the Micro Crow and Wind-Up Eald’narch minions, respectively. The Rroneek Calf minion is a reward from Faux Hollows as well, so there are a lot of battle rewards in this patch.
Treasure hunters have the Mini Yan and Gimme Kitten minions to look forward to since they have a chance to drop from the Vault Oneiron Treasure Dungeon. They’re nice consolation prizes for the people who miss out on the Yan mount.
Finally, the Sunray is the most interesting minion in Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.3 since it’s obtained as a random fishing reward, something the game hasn’t seen in years. It has a small chance of appearing at the Westbound Zorgor fishing spot in Shaaloani if you use Dragonfly bait, but the drop chance is very low. At least you can buy it from the Market Board if you get desperate enough.
