Many of the experiences in Roblox don’t cost a dime to play, but may have shortcuts or exclusive items available for a few Robux. This is the platform’s currency, and it’s highly valued among its humongous community. However, there’s always the question of whether or not there are ways to get in-game currency for the low price of nothing.
While you’ll only see this happen in a few of the best Roblox games, more often than not, you’ll find that you need to spend Robux for shortcuts, premium units, or whatever else the developer wishes to sell you. There are also a handful of experiences where you can obtain free items without Robux if you enter a few words into a special menu, such as typing these Dress to Impress codes, for example. That said, if you do need Robux, here are some commonly asked questions and a handful of legitimate ways to earn this premium currency.
Can you get free Robux?
In short, no. You can’t get Robux for free. Instead, you can buy Robux directly from the website or redeem gift cards that you can buy from plenty of retail and online stores. If anyone is feeling particularly generous, you may receive a gift card, but this is the only way Robux can be given away for “free”. What about Free Robux Generators?
Now, this is a more complicated question. We go into more detail about whether Roblox is safe for kids in our dedicated guide, but one thing we only briefly mention is the concept of scams. These can happen in Roblox and often do because someone tempts other players with the “promise” of free Robux.
If you try to search for free Robux, you’ll likely be approached by sites offering them in exchange for your input. However, the main takeaway is that these are mostly scams. There are three different types you should be aware of:
- Surveys: By completing surveys, the designers offer free Robux in return. However, there is no functionality for them to distribute Robux, so they serve only to collect personal information. This can lead to your data being shared with legal and illegal parties, leading to future scams and unwanted phone calls at best, and your identity or money being stolen at worst.
- User Info Collection: A simpler version of the one above, these ask for your Roblox username and other details, which can be misused or sold to the highest bidder. By providing personal information, you may lose access to your Roblox account, as anyone could then access it and change the password in order to lock you out. If you’ve linked your Roblox account with a credit or debit card, there’s nothing stopping criminals from buying Robux and wiping out your finances.
- Referral Programs: This gets you to invite friends to join and/or participate, which creates a cycle. These serve to benefit the generator for reasons only known to them as to why they need your engagement. They don’t distribute any codes.
Legitimate ways to earn Robux
So while you can’t get some Robux for nothing at all, there are a couple of legitimate ways that you can earn this currency. All of them involve engaging with the Roblox Creator Studio app to create new pieces of art or music. While going into how Roblox Creator Studio works is not something we’re able to delve into here, there are plenty of resources available on the official Roblox Creator Studio pages to get you started with coding, importing your art, and whatever else you may need to share your creativity.
From this point, the Roblox Marketplace is a great place for you to sell custom cosmetic items to other users, potentially making a few Robux to spend on whatever you want. While some may earn tons of Robux by flexing their artistic talent, this may not be the best for everyone. Our top tip here is to see if you can create a tool or object that bridges a gap. Maybe there’s something you’ve always wanted to see in your favorite Roblox game, but nobody’s made it. Be that somebody and craft it yourself, then pop it on the marketplace for other budding developers to use in their games for a fee.
