Guntouchables throws you and your friends into a chaotic, mutant-infested roguelite where every enemy wants you dead. Every run is a balancing act of dodging mutant swarms, rationing your ammo, and picking upgrades for yourself. This chaotic world can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right mindset and strategies, you can survive longer. If you’re starting your first run or still struggling to survive past the early stages, these beginner tips will keep you alive a little longer in Guntouchables.
Choose Your Character Wisely
When you first start playing, you’ll be asked to choose a character. While all the characters in Guntouchables have their quirks, Linda is the easiest starting choice for new players. Her special ability is a close-range melee shovel attack that doesn’t rely on ammo.
This is a big deal early on, because learning ammo management and reload timing is tricky when the screen is packed with enemies. Linda’s melee lets you save bullets for emergencies and gives you a safety net when you’re caught reloading mid-fight.
If you’re playing Guntouchables solo, choose Commando. His Grenade can deal massive damage, meaning you can easily wipe out groups of enemies. You get three of these grenades, and they replenish every time you restock ammo.
Dash Like Your Life Depends on It
Your dash is the most important movement tool you have. By default, it’s bound to the Spacebar, and using it lets you instantly dodge out of harm’s way, escape a mob, or reposition during a firefight.
Every dash costs stamina (the slim bar under your HP), so you can’t use it endlessly. However, if you time it right, a dash can make all the difference between slipping past a mutant horde and getting cornered.
Here are some tips to help you dash like a pro in Guntouchables:
- Don’t waste it just to close small gaps; save it for real danger.
- Use it to pass through chokepoints before enemies surround you.
- Dash through enemies when necessary. It can open a path where none seemed possible.
- Pair it with perks like Good Cardio to reduce its stamina cost.
Max out your base speed with the Speed Buff perk to outrun most Mutants more easily. This gives you extra time to eliminate them and lets you save your Dash for critical moments when you truly need it.
Target Enemy Spawners First
New players often fall into the trap of taking down wave after wave of enemies, only to realize the swarm never ends. That’s because the real threat isn’t the mobs, it’s their spawners. Spawners look like disgusting, boil-covered growths bursting from the ground. They continuously pump out fresh enemies until they are destroyed. If you ignore them, you’ll waste ammo and stamina fighting an endless tide.
As a rule of thumb, find and destroy spawners as fast as possible. Once they’re gone, enemy numbers drop dramatically, making the area much more manageable.
Use Your Pistol Whenever Possible
If you’re playing solo or with a character who doesn’t have an unlimited-use melee weapon, your default pistol becomes one of your most valuable weapons in Guntouchables. While it may not pack the same punch as heavier firearms, the pistol is more than capable of handling basic enemies.
It’s perfect for picking off weaker foes like Ticks without burning through your stronger weapons’ ammo, and it’s just as handy for breaking boxes. Save your heavy firepower for when you really need it, and let the Pistol do the grunt work.
Use Explosive Barrels as Traps
If you find yourself boxed in by a mutant mob, take a second to scan the environment. If you see any glowing red barrels, they’re your ticket out. Shoot a barrel when enemies crowd around it, and you’ll set off a massive explosion that wipes out everything nearby.
It’s a good idea to memorize barrel locations as you explore the map. Try to lure enemies toward the barrels before firing. When used right, these barrels can turn hopeless situations into satisfying comeback moments.
Hunt for Crates Whenever Possible
While pushing through missions, keep an eye on your minimap for green-glowing crates. Opening these crates during a run pays off after you complete the mission.
Crates unlock Perks, which are permanent upgrades that can make future runs much easier. The more crates you grab, the better your long-term progression. They’re not always in easy-to-reach spots, so you’ll need to decide if the risk of grabbing one is worth the potential reward. It’s always a good idea to hunt down a few, if possible.
Always Use The Minimap
The Minimap in Guntouchables is far more useful than most players realize. It can be found tucked away in the top-right corner of the screen (or available in full by pressing Tab). The Minimap shows mission objectives and paths, crate locations, and even icons for useful items or hazards.
Checking your map regularly prevents aimless wandering and helps you plan routes that avoid unnecessary fights. Make it a habit to glance at it between encounters, especially when supplies are low, or you’re searching for a quick exit.
Manage Your Stamina
In Guntouchables, stamina is just as important as bullets. Dashing will drain your energy, leaving you slow and vulnerable when you need to escape. Remember to pace your movements. For example, you can use a short dash to reposition quickly, then slow down to recover stamina.
The easiest way to improve your stamina game is by picking up the right perks. Two perks particularly worth grabbing, whenever available, are: Stamina Regeneration and Good Cardio. These perks don’t actually make your stamina bar bigger, but they make it last longer.
