With the latter half of Dragon Ball Super, there was a very interesting take introduced regarding the transformations. While fans had gotten used to the idea of the Saiyan Z-Fighters getting even stronger through each new addition to the traditional Super Saiyan line, there was eventually a spin on this which showed each of them entering the upper echelons of power in the multiverse through their own means.
For example, Ultra Instinct is a technique exclusively used by Goku, Beast is unique to Gohan, and Piccolo’s Orange state finally brings him to the level of his contemporaries. Similarly, Broly has the Legendary Super Saiyan state and Vegeta has Ultra Ego, but many Dragon Ball fans believe that it is possible for Broly to use the special technique of the Destroyer Gods due to how well it suits him. So, let’s take a look at how this would work.

When Goku awoke Ultra Instinct in the Tournament of Power, fans were convinced that it was only a matter of time until Vegeta would do the same. However, try as hard as he might, Vegeta was never able to awaken the technique of the Angels due to it being fundamentally at odds with the kind of warrior that he is. In all his appearances, Vegeta has always been someone who values sheer, overwhelming force over technique.
In fact, that’s just the Saiyan way. Due to their genetic make-up making them the perfect warriors, they get stronger the more they fight and when they use more emotion, which is why Ultra Ego was the perfect alternative for the Saiyan Prince. By taking his emphasis on being a hardened warrior who is all about his own pride, Ultra Ego was introduced as the mirror technique of Ultra Instinct, as it took damage to make the user even stronger in turn. This is the inherent technique of the Destroyers.
Keeping in mind the complexity of the form and how it works, many fans believe that it would be absolutely perfect for Broly to use. Even more than Vegeta, Broly embodies the standard of a warrior whose entire repertoire is predicated on his oppressive and brutal strength. In all of his fights, just like Vegeta, he tends to forego technique refinement in favor of giving his all from an offensive standpoint, completely disregarding the damage he has taken just so he can deal as much damage to his opponents as possible instead.
This makes him the perfect candidate for Ultra Ego, as the damage he takes in a fight would make his next attack just that much stronger. Of course, there is a need to further refine this power since the damage can eventually get too much for the user if they have taken a lot of it. However, if the form was to be used by anyone other than Vegeta, Broly would be the best option for this.

Why Broly Shouldn’t Be Another User Of The Ultra Ego Technique
Dragon Ball Has A New Path
- Dragon Ball is going on a new path forward.
As cool as it would be to see Broly donning the awesome purple color palette of the Destroyers, the path that the series is going down now in terms of transformations is far too good to give up. Over the course of Dragon Ball, transformations have become one of the biggest parts of it, but fans have often expressed disappointment with the way the Super Saiyan transformations used to be handled.
For the most part, these forms were far too similar in terms of design, even from user to user, most of the time, offering nothing new in terms of form or function. Sure, a Super Saiyan 2 was naturally going to be better than the regular Super Saiyan state, but why is that the case? These new states just made the user’s hair spikier and longer and somehow made them even faster and stronger without explaining how this happened. Plus, the same form on different characters would tend to look the same.
Power comes in response to a need, not a desire. You have to create that need.
However, Dragon Ball Super changed that. By introducing various paths to power, it made the journey of every one of the main characters stand out by playing more to their individual strengths rather than giving them all a blanket power-up. Ultra Instinct is the perfect form for Goku due to his pursuit of mastery over the Martial Arts, Ultra Ego is perfect for Vegeta due to his nature as a brute warrior, Beast is perfect for Gohan since it is awoken by his incredible latent potential, and Piccolo’s Orange Form works as a huge power-up he got from Shenron, hearkening back to the relationship between Namekians and the Dragon Balls.
Similarly, Broly’s Legendary Super Saiyan form plays on his unique powers and capabilities as someone who has held the greatest potential from a very young age. Although his Legendary Super Saiyan state works similarly to the way transformations used to be, it all makes perfect sense within the context of the character, so giving him Ultra Ego would just be a disservice to this awesome path that the series is going down.
