In the world of Naruto, most ninja will possess an array of Jutsu abilities that they can throw out to help give them an edge in battle. In the early arcs of the story, these techniques usually took the form of small fireballs or shadow clones, but as more powerful characters start getting introduced, the Jutsu abilities also begin to become much more powerful, with some even being regarded as downright broken.
By something being broken, it means that it is absurdly strong while also having very few drawbacks, which certainly applies to more than a few Jutsu seen throughout the Naruto series. In order to bring some believability to the story, though, these kinds of Jutsu will usually be reserved for only those who are strong enough to wield them. So, with that being said, it’s time to take a deeper look at why these Jutsu are so strong, and which ninjas are lucky enough to use them in battle.
Almighty Push
Pain Obliterated an Entire Village With One Jutsu
On the surface, the ability to push or pull someone may seem fairly weak, but what makes this so dangerous is the area of effect. By placing himself above Konoha, Pain was able to use Almighty Push to completely flatten the village from all directions in no more than a few seconds, and he was able to achieve this simply by focusing his Chakra and performing a simple hand motion.
When Pain reached the surface, he then used the ability to throw Kakashi and the other ninja around like ragdolls, making him virtually untouchable in the process. Any Jutsu that is capable of killing thousands of people in a single blast is one that definitely deserves to be regarded as overpowered, especially when also considering the very limited number of drawbacks.
Curse Jutsu: Death Possession
Hidan’s Pain Converts Over to His Target
Before Hidan is introduced to the story in Naruto Shippuden, very little was known about the mysterious god known as Jashin and his devout cult of followers. As a result, there was no telling what sort of weird and wacky abilities Hidan would be able to use once he appeared, but as Asuma comes to experience first-hand, this guy is an absolute monster when he’s given the time to prepare his cursed abilities.
Death Possession is a Jutsu that allows Hidan to convert all the injuries he receives over to his target, so long as he remains within a circle and has consumed his target’s blood. This means that all it takes is for Hidan to stab himself in the heart, or cut off his own head, to end a fight entirely, and this isn’t even mentioning the fact that the guy is literally immortal, so there’s no chance of simply killing him before the Jutsu takes effect. One thing is for sure: if Shikamaru hadn’t buried Hidan alive when he did, the Akatsuki member would have spread a lot more chaos and suffering across the ninja world.
Limbo: Border Jail
A Technique that Can Only Be Countered By the Power of the Sage of Six Paths
Madara is undoubtedly one of the strongest ninjas in all of Naruto, and as someone who was once the leader of the Uchiha Clan, he has more than a few deadly eye techniques that he is able to throw out in a battle. One notable ability that he deploys in the final war is Limbo, a Genjutsu that places Madara’s enemies in a dream-like world where they must face off against multiple Madara clones at once.
While these clones possess the same combat abilities as their host, none of them can be hurt or damaged, but there’s another big reason why this technique is considered so broken. The only way Naruto and Sasuke were able to break out of Limbo was by using their Rinnegan and Sage of Six Paths Chakra respectively, meaning that if the average ninja was locked into this Genjutsu, they would literally have no way of escaping, which gives an idea of why Madara is so feared.
Flying Thunder God
Nobody Can Escape Minato Once He Activates His Flying Thunder God Technique
In order for the Flying Thunder God ninjutsu to work, Minato first needs to place a seal on the body of his opponent. Once his target is marked, Minato can then teleport to their location instantly, regardless of the distance between him and his opponent, even if they have entered an entirely different dimension. This is much more than just raw speed, as Minato is able to achieve this without barely breaking a sweat, and he can even bring items like his kunai along with him to deal damage.
If a marked enemy tries to attack Minato, he will instantly be able to appear behind them to avoid taking any damage. Additionally, he can also prevent someone from running away by appearing directly in front of them. This technically makes Minato faster than even the likes of the Raikage, and considering how overpowered it is, it only seems right that one of the strongest Kage to have ever lived is the one who would come to possess it.
Edo Tensei
Bring Ninja Back to Life to Create an Entire Army
While there were obviously many factors leading up to the Fourth Great Ninja War, the reason this conflict was even able to kick off in the first place was because of one Jutsu, that being Edo Tensei. On the surface, the actual ability itself can seem pretty simple, as it allows the wielder to resurrect someone back from the dead, no matter how long ago they died, or how powerful they were when they were still alive and kicking.
Now, admittedly, a person is able to bring the influence of Edo Tensei if they have the specific means of doing so, but the fact Kabuto was still able to create an entire army of followers with a single technique shows just how insanely powerful this Jutsu truly is. Had Kabuto not gotten too carried away with who he was deciding to bring back, he could have easily made a group of loyal soldiers who never would have turned on him, but he was still capable of dealing an immense amount of damage after acquiring this Jutsu for himself.
Kamui
Teleport and Remain Completely Intangible to Enemy Attacks
Obito has used a plethora of devastating Jutsu abilities over the course of the series, but the one that is always his go-to is Kamui. To put it simply, this Sharingan technique allows the user to teleport themselves, or someone else, to a different dimension. This means Obito would be able to transport himself anywhere he wants in literally the blink of an eye, but what happens if someone tries to attack him while he’s using it?
The answer is that they won’t even be able to land a scratch on him, as Kamui also makes the user completely intangible so long as they are focusing on using it at just the right time. While it can be used for defensive purposes, Kamui is also a great offensive tool that can literally remove someone from a battlefield in an instant. It’s incredibly broken and an ability that many Naruto fans have criticized because of how overpowered and outlandish it is, though it does admittedly allow for some pretty cool action scenes, such as the one between Kakashi and Obito.
